As a wonderful side effect of participating in Miguel Guhlin's skypecast last night, I learned about these wonderful Internet safety videos. Tracking Teresa was the one that was recommended, specifically. I am going to preview it today and use it next week as part of my online safety and privacy teaching.

Vicki, you were wonderful in yesterday’s conversation! I’m still marvelling at some of the points you made and how you made them.
A clarification: This is OUR podcast, not mine.
Thanks,
Miguel
Vicki,
I have used several videos from netsmartz.org at my technology camp for kids (4th- 6th graders)last year as well as during the information evening on Internet Safety for their parents. “Tracking Teresa” was one that was especially powerful with parents AND the children. http://langwitches.org/workshops/children_safe_online/index.htm
These are excellent. I am going to use them with my own kids. Unforunately, the one I couldn’t get to run was Tracking Teresa, which is the one I really wanted them to see. On the flip side, I notice that in almost every case the victim is female. The few male characters who appear tend to be perpetrators. I would hate my kids to think they’re safe because they’re male and the only onus on them is not to be perpetrators.
The video was great, kind a very knowledgeable and safe too.
