Facts about St George's Day 2010 – England's National Day
St. George is the patron saint of Britain. This website says ,however, that most people in England celebrate St. George's day as just another day.
Others know that Shakespeare was also born and died on this same day.
St. George frequently appears in Mummers' Plays during Easter and Christmas celebrations. Mummers' Plays have been performed in Britain for hundreds of years. They are folk dramas based on the legend of St. George and the Seven Champions of Christendom.
