I really enjoyed intrepid teacher’s thoughts about changing your avatar and self expression. I think this is very insightful into what is in the minds of our students and children.
I don’t think I change my picture much as it reminds me that I have 40 pounds to lose.
Great page with a grazr widget with all of the places you can take “virtual” tours. Another greate wiki from Diane Krause.
Dianne Krause, Instructional Technology specialist, from Blue Bell, PA USA (http://diannekrause.edublogs.org) has put together an incredible e toolbox wiki that is worth sharing with anyone using a wiki or any web 2.o tool!
She shares the tool and gives an example, exactly the type of thing inquiring teachers want to see. She is modeling instead of just expecting them to figure it out! Great job, Diane – you are my new wiki go-to gal! Wow!
From digital portfolios to online databases and Ning, she does a GREAT job on this wiki of putting it all together.
This website lets you send up to 1 GB files to another person — what a GREAT tool. I’m using Gspace right now to send a monstrous file to Julie, but if it doesn’t work, then I’ll be using this website instead. Great tool.
There are hobbyists and there are fanatics. I cannot imagine the pricetag for the computer set up shown here and have to hope that these 11 computers used simultaneously to play world of warcraft are put to “good use” at other times during the day. I also see someone who is online but is not connected with others. To me, if I do things online – I like social spaces because of the “interaction” — sort of like creating your own friend network of 36 different people and tweeting yourself all day — sort of Sybil-ish, I think.
Addictive behaviors is definitely part of digital health and wellness and helping people know when to draw the line.
Bitty Browser is an incredibly cool and useful tool.
It allows you to embed a website inside another web page – so if you want to embed a web page for people to use in your wiki, just use the bitty browser. You can even create up to 100 feeds and make a mini RSS reader for education news for those teachers you KNOW will NEVER use RSS. Fascinating tool.
Fascinating link for social studies and some samples. I LOVE how some web pages were inserted using bitty browser. What a cool tool. This site also features several dipity timelines. This is a GREAT site for history teachers to see.
You an use this site to “drop” or share files on the Internet. It only uses up to 100 MB of space but it still looks like a simple way to share. You can drop files by phone, email, web, widget or fax. Very interesting.
A cool song and ideas for inspiring troops – this is for the US audience of teachers. If you have a person in the military anywhere, the song at the bottom of the page is a great one for you.
For you second lifers out there – there are virtual coupons for things in second life now. Kevin jarrett shares them all.
