Online and Blended Courses | techieMusings
Stacey Roshan writes about AP Calculus (which she flips, btw) but I think that this pondering on how she thinks classes should be redesigned to be online/ blended. I think her views are valuable because she's already flipping. Such views are very valuable and perhaps someone reading this will give her a chance to redesign Calculus or AP computer science in this way. Interesting post.
Another website with some concerns about standardized testing.

Teachers Among the Most Popular Groups in America – Forbes
Teachers are a lot more popular than they may think Look at this poll from back in March showing that 73% of people had positive feelings about their child ‘s teacher. At the bottom of the list: Donald Trump and Saudi Arabia?(Kind of random things on this poll.) Remember that often the press tells only part of the story. Teachers, you are noble and most of you are working hard and doing a great job. Those of you who don't like students and hate teaching will perhaps find their gift in another field that better suits their skill set and calling.
Here is a step by step guide that teacher Mega Black recommends for Middle school students. This is a sample assignment made on a Google site for a middle school. This is a very nice, comprehensive site.

Federal Trade Commission tells facebook they can no longer change privacy settings at will
The days of randomly changing privacy settings that CHANGE EVERYTHING happening on Facebook are over. The FTC has told Facebook when they make changes that they must give people the chance to opt in. Good move, in my opinion.
Turn Off Your Gag Reflex by Squeezing Your Left Thumb
This may sound silly, but if you've ever taught a child or had a child with a strong gag reflex, this is worth a try. Lifehacker cites a study that says if you squeeze your left thumb with your left hand that it helps. It may sound silly but if you have a child who gets sick frequently, you'll try anything!

ZeroMail – Your personal email assistant
Zero mail is making productivity news for its purpose and its pricing. It is charging a $100 lifetime fee but says it is super-simple email management. It does things like clean out things that aren't needed (like twitter notifications) and zaps mail that is not from a real person. I wish I could demo before paying the fee to see if it works but I've seen good reviews so far.I wish gmail would look and learn from some of these features which look very cool. Yes, I fight and struggle with email. It also helps you outsource things in your inbox with one click (an interesting concept.)
