Support teachers with @Staples and Donorschoose.org

So many teachers spend their own money on school supplies for their classrooms. In the US, some estimates show 99.5 of all public school teachers use their money to equip their own classroom. I'm so excited that Staples is again supporting DonorsChoose.org and partnering with Katy Perry to encourage people to make their donation to support US public school teachers. This is a great campaign that can help a lot of teachers.

So, here's what you can do:

  1. If you're a US public school teacher, make sure you register at DonorsChoose.org now!
  2. When you shop at Staples stores, supportDonorsChoose.org as part of your back to school shopping when you check out.
  3. You can also donate at StaplesforStudents.com and register for the sweepstakes below.

Here's a cool tip: When you shop at Staples and spend $25, you’ll receive an entry code on your receipt. Then, you can enter the sweepstakes at StaplesForStudents.com. One grand prize winner will win a $50,000 scholarship plus a trip for two to Los Angeles to meet Katy Perry. Four first prize winners and one guest each will also win air travel to Los Angeles, two nights stay and spending money to meet Katy Perry at the VIP Winners Celebration. (Lots of kids I know would be excited about this.)

I love the story Katy Perry shares. Idea and dream boards are awesome. You can use your makerspace supplies to make idea boards like this. In fact, using DonorsChoose.org to stock your makerspace is a great idea.
